Which Clinic is right for you?
(updated 3/27/07)
Good running form follows the same principles, whether you are running on road or trail. All of the clinics teach the same basic principles. The different clinics will emphasize slightly different parts of running.
Trail Running
The emphasis will be on dealing with technical terrain, uphill and downhill. Road runners will benefit from this too. Trail running magnifies flaws. If you can learn how to run more efficiently on trails, you will be even that much better on roads.
  • Trail Running 101 - For all levels of runners. The mix of runners - the ability to see and get feedback from a wide range of abilities - enhances the learning and makes it a lot of fun.
  • Trail Running 102 - For intermediate to advanced runners (regular folks, not elites). We will move more quickly, spend more time on more technical terrain, and learn to be more aggressive on the trails. This clinic is for experienced trail runners, and better road runners looking to make the switch to trails. Approximate standards are:
    • Pikes Ascent  - 4:15, or
    • Pikes Marathon - 6:30, or
    • Imogene - 4:00, or
    • 10k road time - 50:00, or
    • Significant trail running experiencs.
These standards are somewhat flexible. Please contact me if you have questions.
Easy Running for Road
The emphasis will be on learning to land softer, to be quicker and lighter on your feet, and carry more of your momentum through the stride cycle. We will do some hill work, both up and down. That will help make you more efficient on flat terrain. We will also work on varying your stride. Varying your stride will keep your legs fresher in longer races, and help you recover quicker from long training runs.
