*Registration includes swag (socks or winter beanies), awards (overall, master, and 10yr age group), food, and the chance to win raffle prizes. Double entrants get two bibs, but only one SWAG item.
Add mud/weather insurance to your registration for just $4. The park will not allow us to race on the trails if they are muddy. If that happens (as in 2015), an alternate course will be used that may be all or partially paved. In the very unlikely event that the weather makes road or racing dangerous, the race may be postponed. Purchase insurance to get a refund if you do not wish to race pavement or are unable to race at a later date Otherwise, no refunds.
Race number pickup on race day only, beginning 7:45am.
An additional waiver, for the City of Lakwood, must be filled out on race day by all before picking up your race number, whether you pre-registered or are signing up on race day. Please allow extra time for check-in and parking.

Course updates: The park has changed the trails, so the new courses will be somewhat different than in the past, but still a lot of the same: fun, rolling flats, short & steep hills.
Little Bear: The 5km has ~350' of climbing, covering the eastern, hillier section of the big loop.
The 5km will have one aid station at ~1.2mi.
No late starts!
Big Bear: The 14.25km has ~950' of climbing, single and double track, over a mix of moderate to steep hills and rolling/flat sections. Start with a ~1km loop around the meadow, then two ~4.15mi outer loops on the surrounding trails.
All Runuphill Racing courses come with a Won't-Get-Lost guarantee.*
In case of muddy trails, an alternate course will be used. The park does not allow races on muddy trails. It may be all or partially paved, using park roads and bike paths, but will be hilly. The race will not be postponed to a later date due to muddy trails. Click for the National Weather Service forecast for the area.
14.25km: 1:15 (that's 1 hr 15 min from the start, not 1:15pm) at the end of the first big circuit, approx 4.70mi, ~16:00/mi pace.
Rock by rock: The course will be well marked with arrows and mile markers.
Start for both distances: Start at the W end of the open field, W of the pavilion. The start will be cross-country style, spread wide. Head E towards the pavilion. Go right past the parking lot chain out do the dirt road. Go left on the dirt road, Take the dirt road down the steep hill. Just before the gates at the bottom, go left onto the single track and across the footbridge. Shortly thereafter, go left at the fork, then left again, heading back towards the W. Cross the footbridge and continue up the trail. As the trail flattens out, stay left at the fork, and continue around the N side of the pavilion.
5km: After the opening loop, at the end of the pavilion, veer left onto the single track. Follow the trail around the back stop and the S side of the meadow. At the W end of the meadow, stay straight and up a short hill. Follow the trail to the right to the footbridge. Go left across the bridge, then right on the other side.
Follow the double track path along the canal and out towards Morrison Road. Go right on the trail alongside Morrison Rd, across the culvert. On the other side of the culvert, go right, then right again downhill and back into the park. Continue down the trail along the W side of an open meadow.
Take the first left at the NW corner of the bottom of the bluff. Climb the steep hill, 15%-20%. Stay left as the trail starts to flatten out along the N edge of the bluff. There's a short, steep drop, then a fairly flat stretch. The trail veers right and drops fairly steeply into a small canyon. It curves right at the bottom of the canyon to a fast and gradual downhill double track
In ~¼mi, take a sharp right at the next trail junction. This trail climbs ~7% for ¼mi. It flattens out below the top of the bluff. There, take a left at the 3-way junction and head downhill. Stay straight at the first trail junction, then right at the next. This will take you onto the trail you took on the opening loop, across footbridge, and back up to the pavilion. Finish at the NE corner of the pavilion.
14.25km big Loop, 2x: After the opening loop, at the end of the pavilion, veer left onto the single track. Follow the trail around the back stop and the S side of the meadow. At the W end of the meadow, take a sharp left down the short, steep, and rocky trail. Take a sharp right at the bottom up a ~7% grade. The trail curves right at the top. Continue straight to the footbridge. Go left across the bridge, then left on the other side.
Follow the double track service road as it rolls to the W. It dips in the middle, then climbs back up. Go through the gate, then take a sharp right onto a single track. Follow this flattish trail back to the E, alongside Morrison Rd. The trail splits as you come to the W side of the bluff. Veer right at the fork, and follow the fence line to the top of the bluff. The climb starts ~7%, nearly levels off, then 10%-12% for the upper half. The trail turns right at the top, through the fence line. It descends 15%+ steep and rocky at first, gradually flattening out. At the end of the single track, go left onto the wide, dirt path (merging with the 5km course).
Follow the double track N, along the irrigation canal, out to Morrison Rd. Go right on the trail along Morrison Rd, across the large culvert. Go right, through the fence line, back into the park. Stay to the right, down the trail, across the W edge of a meadow.
Take the first left at the NW corner of the bottom of the bluff, and climb the steep hill, 15%-20%. Stay straight as the trail starts to flatten out. Follow the trail along the N edge of the bluff with a short, steep drop, then a fairly flat stretch. The trail veers right and drops fairly steeply into a small canyon. It curves right at the bottom of the canyon to a fast and gradual downhill.
In ~1/4mi, take a sharp right at the next trail junction. This trail climbs ~7% for ¼mi. It flattens out below the top of the bluff. Take a left at the 3-way junction and head downhill. Stay straight at the first trail junction, then right at the next. This will take you onto the trail you took on the opening loop, across footbridge, and back up to the pavilion.
Repeat this loop twice. After the second loop, finish at the NE corner of the pavilion.
