Wellington Lake 15km
Sunday, May 17, 9:00am
Cancelled
Wellington Lake
Castle Mountain Recreation, 11mi S of Bailey

General description: Two laps (clockwise) around Wellington Lake. About 2/3 single-track and 1/3 dirt road. Elevation 8,100'. This is the same course, reverse direction, as the XTerra Buffalo Creek Triathlon long run course.

Registration info: Cancelled

Course description, blow-by-blow:
Start at the S end of the lake. Head S on the dirt road, along the E side of the lake. Exit the park, and go right, S on the dirt road. Just past the dam, go right past the chain.

Stay right at the fork just past the chain. Follow the 4wd road as it curves to the N. Go up and over the first hill. At the bottom of the other side, turn left, off the road, onto a single-track, uphill.

Climb the trail. Where it levels up, take a right onto another single-track. Follow it down hill, and as it continues to weave through the trees. You'll cross a couple of trail junctions. Stay left. There's a mix of flat and short hils, smooth and rocky, straight and twisty, and a couple of foot bridges.

You'll climb up some steep log steps by a waterfall. From the top, it flattens out, then leads to a long, gradual downhill. When you come out at a dirt road, go left and continue downhill to the finish, or the second lap.

Check back later for a course map and profile.
